For our September 2021 meeting we showed off our summer projects and activities. Here are a few of them:
K2GW Gary worked with others to create a better operating position at Ockanickon Scout Reservation in PA. Here is an “after” photo. They also changed the callsign to K3OSR, to be descriptive of the place.
Rebecca Mercuri, K3RPM reported on her trip to the Mullica Hill Hamfest/ARRL SNJ Convention. She showed photos of the host club’s station and also of the community.
I took this photo in a community known as The Enclave at Forest Woods, near Cedar Road in Mullica Hill, NJ, 12 days after an EF-3 tornado wreaked havoc to the area. Something about the juxtaposition of the unscathed bed of multicolored verbena, along with the tree surgeon yard sign advertisement, in the foreground of the otherwise devastated property, speaks of the hope of reconstruction and renewal. The victory of the small frail blooms over the relentless storm gives promise, as in the words of the Sermon on the Mount — “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” Amazingly, due in large part to Emergency Alerts, no one was killed and injuries were few.
KB2FA showed off his homemade AllStar Node, a repeater which connects his HT to the AllStar Network. He modified an Baofeng HT, removing the finals, to make a very low power signal.
I reported on his experiment using W1AW Digital Bulletins to learn how to copy RTTY, PSK-31 and MFSK16. Here’s a screen capture of FLDIGI.exe running on Windows 10. A .pdf describing the process is HERE
