Winter Field Day 2026

“Move to a safer location”

At our Tuesday January 20th Meeting the DSRC decided to hold Winter Field Day 2026 in and around the American Red Cross Building, on Alexander Road in Princeton (West Windsor, NJ)

This is a quick pivot from our previous plans, due to extreme cold predicted for January 24 and 25.

Updates —
7 AM Wednesday- home page changed, “event” changed, page created
9 AM Wednesday (working on getting on the WFD map)
1 PM Added WFD Location Map, and registered the club with WFDA.
FRiday night… added table of WFD Message times and updated weather
Saturday morning… time to set up!

Plans

We will operate N2RE in the space where N2ARC is, but because we are doing other things, and taking responsibility for proper operation, we will use the club call.

We will operate “Inside” “I”, perhaps FIVE-ITALY in Southern New Jersey, as we will be just across the line from NNJ.

I – Indoor station: is any station operating away from Home but from inside an insulated, weather-protected building (or structure) on a permanent foundation. Indoor stations typically have plumbing, heating/cooling, and running water. Church, EOCs, a club shack, a cabin, and community centers are all examples of an Indoor station.

The number 5 is arbitrary, we’ll have “up to” 5 transmitters at any one time…. though the space is cramped and the antennas will be very close to each other.

WFD Location Map

Below is a snapshot of a map, created by Google, from the https://winterfieldday.org/ website. The actual location is the center of the snowflake, not the point of the pin.. behind 707 Alexander Road.

Weather Predictions

Saturday Partly sunny, with a high near 19. Wind chill values as low as -7. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Saturday Night Snow likely after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 12. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Sunday Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 26. Northeast wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 7 to 11 inches possible.

We are thinking that we will probably leave Saturday night, because Sunday may have a State of Emergency in NJ.

Visitors are welcome, and we might teach you how to log… or even get you on the air.
