ARES Talk Featured at March Meeting

John Pugh, WJ3P spoke to the club via Webex at our March 15, covering current topics in New Jersey ARES, with emphasis on Mercer County, New Jersey. In discussing membership, John spoke of several online courses that are required.

These are Interactive Web Based Courses provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)’s Emergency Management Institute (EMI) They are easily taken online. Here are the updated titles, with links:

IS‐100.c ‐ Intro to Incident Command System (ICS) is offered by FEMA:
IS‐200.c – Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, ICS-200
IS‐700.b – Introduction to NIMS, the National Incident Management System (formerly ICS-700.b)
IS‐800.d – National Response Framework, An Introduction (updated ICS‐800.c)

[FEMA] the National Response Framework focuses especially on those who are involved in delivering and applying the response core capabilities, including:

  • Private sector partners
  • Non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
  • Government officials
  • Community leaders
  • Emergency management practitioners
  • First responders
